The Dance Compound invites applications for Movement Mentors & Dance Instructors in Calgary (AB).

DUTIES

This position will be primarily working at our various studio locations in SW Calgary.

A successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality dance instruction and education to all-ages, community members, clients, and dancers in an enthusiastic, open and safe manner.

  • Conduct engaging dance programs at one or multiple studio locations.

  • Teach various dance styles and techniques in a fun and educational manner.

  • Acrobatic Arts dance curriculum and content to suit different age groups and learning environments, is preferred.

  • Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages active participation and learning.

  • Maintain a professional and organized approach to dance instruction.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participating children.

  • Maintain program materials and equipment, and dance facilities.

  • Liase with studio members, clients, dancers while in-studio

  • Optional: assist with duties related to Performance Team competition events

Training will be provided for specific administrative and/or housekeeping duties and/or tasks.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Previous experience as a dance instructor with a strong dance background.

  • Enthusiasm and interest for working with children and a passion for dance education.

  • Very good oral and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Sensitive to the needs of various ages groups and their learning ability.

  • Flexibility and ability to work with diverse groups and varied locations.

  • Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and creativity.

  • Organized, efficient and productive.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent knowledge and/or Certification of Acrobatic Arts curriculum is an asset.

  • Experience in group choreography and competitive choreography is an asset.

  • Excellent knowledge of local arts community an asset.
